The Parlay Advantage
Though we offer a range of manuscript services including one-on-one reviews, our signature service is the DOUBLE-UP–a manuscript assessment completed by both members of the Parlay team. For writers who want a deeper review experience.
One manuscript. Two perspectives. Maximum results.
Manuscript Assessment
A manuscript assessment includes: a six to ten-page feedback report identifying strengths, weaknesses, recurring issues, and areas for improvement, plus a thirty-minute phone or video call. The customized assessment offers general feedback with examples from the manuscript and is usually performed in advance of a developmental edit. It does not include line edits or a marked-up manuscript.

Developmental Edit
Choose a developmental edit when you’ve taken the manuscript as far as you can on your own. A developmental edit includes: an editorial letter identifying areas for improvement and a marked-up manuscript with suggestions and queries. It includes detailed and comprehensive feedback on the manuscript’s major elements, for example, plot, structure, character development, point of view, pacing and voice. It also includes a thirty-minute phone or video call for questions and clarifications. The edit may identify recurring writing issues on the sentence level, but does not usually involve line edits.
